Our Part in the Great Commission
St Joseph’s Church, September 1, 2019.
… go, therefore and make disciples of all the nations. Baptise them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them to carry out everything I have commanded you. And know that I am with you always, until the end of time’. (Mt. 28:18-20)
As Christians, as the Church, we are called to know Jesus Christ present with us, and to proclaim and share the faith we have received. Bishop Mark has offered us an opportunity to take part in this Great Commission through The Catechetical Institute at Franciscan University.
The Institute trains Catechists, including Readers, Musicians, Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, Leaders of Childrens Liturgy of the Word, Welcomers, Coffee Makers, Parish Lunch Providers… and any Catholic who speaks to another person about faith. (So, all of us!). The workshops are available online and can be done individually, as a group or small cell of friends. If you wish you can print out the material and just watch the videos with a facilitator.
If we can raise part of the annual registration fee (about £218 PA) then as many people as wish can access as many workshops as they chose, at home, in the Church hall or with friends. You can also choose to have a mentor to make the journey with you if you wish.
To book a place on a demonstration; Sunday September 29, after 10.30 Mass, or Wednesday, October 02 at 19.00, both at St Joseph’s, please contact Caroline. If you would like a preview go to https://franciscanathome.com. Don’t worry about the prices there but do look at the sample; then if you go up to ‘Partnering Dioceses’ and click on, there is a scroll down bar which brings you to Plymouth Diocese. There you will see Bishop Mark’s letter and lists of the Learning Tracks on offer.
